In my capacity as Director of Operations in the UK for a World Tours Limited, I am often asked all kinds of travel questions.
A customer recently asked about travel to Egypt for the first time, and I wanted my advice on things to see in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. Here are my tips ....

There are more than 120,000 articles in the Egyptian Museum, on the assumption that if a typical holiday in Egypt, you will spend a maximum of 1 day, here is my suggestion of the need see objects in the museum.

The Cairo Museum or the Museum of Antiquities in Egypt to give his full name, should be quite high on the list of anyone who intends to visit Cairo. You should keep in mind that if you have gone 1 minute watching Each room will have about nine months to see everything - not really practical (unless you plan to visit a very large!)

Collections Museum began in 1830 and was created to try to stem the tide of theft or kidnapping abroad. The present Egyptian Museum was opened November 15, 1902 and was designed by French architect Marcel Dourgnon.

Variety of items is huge and many people assume the museum is only Pharaonic artifacts, when in fact it actually has pieces dating back to prehistoric times right through Egypt in the late Roman period.

There are 42 rooms on the first floor and second 47on and are "generally" in chronological order. The 1st floor has a large atrium with greater exposure, including a pair of huge statues of Ramses II and Amenhotep III and his wife Tiy. This is really the best view from the top (of the 2nd floor)

As expected, exposures most popular are in the gallery Tutankamun. This amazing collection of artifacts was discovered by Howard Carter in 1922. 3000 articles are here, including the most famous of all, his "death mask and other items, as his coffin, the throne, and various articles of jewelry, etc.

The famous Rosetta Stone is also here in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. This stone is very important because it has a long way to help us understand the ancient writings Egyptian Sculpture. Rosetta Stone focuses on 3 different scripts

The first was hieroglyphic which was the script used in these time many important and / or documents religious. The second was demotic which was the traditional script or ordinary days of ancient Egypt. The last third / is Greek, which was considered the language of the rulers Egypt.

The end is about the room should be room mom. There is a charge to visit here, but well worth it. There are up to 27 mummies on display any time and this is really an amazing site. They are incredibly well preserved and you can even see the teeth, hair and nails. In conclusion, the above are probably the most important elements you should try to return, but ultimately, the museum visit and what you leave in a state of mind. Certainly there are reasons to be Guided by the museum and make sure you take in all the best, but also provide the wandering home alone and take only what you find. There is no doubt that if some of these items are less popular, probably no less fascinating.
